Buffalo Chamber Luncheon Features Empowerment

This month's Buffalo Chamber Luncheon had everything a good action flick should have...fighting, yelling, hitting, kicking and plenty of, well...action.

Empower Wyoming gave a demonstration of their personal safety and self-defense classes, which are designed specifically for women and kids to learn how to set boundaries and defend themselves when necessary.

Francene Russell, who worked with the Los Angeles-based IMPACT personal safety course, asked some of her former colleagues to come to Wyoming and train her staff in the technique. While here, they will also be teaching some local women as well.

During the hour-long demonstration, Rob Latimer, Personal Safety Instructor with IMPACT in L.A., gave the women a target for their hits, kicks, punches, knees to the groin and verbal attacks, giving the luncheon crowd a small taste of what the class is all about.

Russell said she sees this class as just the beginning for the program here in Buffalo and in Wyoming.

The class will continue through this weekend, culminating in a graduation ceremony this Sunday in the Buffalo High School Wrestling Room beginning at 1pm. The public is invited to attend.

It’s about being able to make it home to kiss your kids goodnight vs having a doctor call your family to let them know that you won’t be coming home again…ever. Fighting “fair” will only get you killed in a real street attack. Criminals who would make you a victim don’t fight fair and when I’m facing a knife or multiple attackers, I’m going to use every means necessary to make sure I survive. That includes a kick to the nads.

@MrDowner818 – You bring up an important groin kick rule for self defense. Groin kicks are NOT a fight-ender, for the very reason you stated. Some guys will drop like a sack of potatoes – others will seem unphased. For this reason, first, drive THROUGH your attacker so you’re displacing his body and not just going for a sack tap. Second, follow up strikes are critical which is another reason this self defense video works so well.

get kicked in the nuts in a street fight doesn’t hurt i mean if you do it before the fight begins then ya it well work but you cant do it in the middel of the fight it wont hurt the guy trust me ive gotin fights were the gu kneed my the nuts 6 times i still fought DONT GET ME WRONG AFTER THE FIGHT I WENT HOME MY BALLS WERE BLUE AND IT HURT FOR 2 WEEKS BUT IT DIDNT HURT DURING HE FIGHT just saying

@birdystyle420 i was in a bookstore when this guy a good 2 inches taller than me started mouthing racist comments at me. i picked a bunch of pens and walked to the exit. he blocked it and was getting to a fighting stance. i threw the pens at him rushed at him and stabbed his left ribs with a pen. i managed to push past him and ran like mad.to fight him “normally” would be stupid. he could have friends nearby.i am asian and was studying in the uk years ago.

@deepwaters6969 Right you are my man. Either way the dude is gonna be hurtin’ like a mother flipper. Also you can finger whip his eyes, I should make a video to show y’all what I mean by finger whip, it really hurts and it’s really fast, and you can withdraw your hand really fast. Matter of fact you can finger whip his balls too, it’ll hurt like a mother, because of the whipping motion.
