This machine was recently donated to our local Red Cross chapter. We have a small production department that sews for local nursing homes.
The machine came without a manual, but I have located a couple of sites on-line where it can be purchased.
There is an excerpt at one site that reads "zig-zag and decorative, cam based stitches".
Does anyone know anything about this machine.

"Trying to save the world before bedtime"---PowerPuff Girls - The machine has built in zigzag and you can use cams (plastic disc things) to make decorative stitches. There is probably a "hatch" on top of the machine where the cams go in.
You can look up the "JA" number on the vintage Japan sewing group on yahoo. The number will probably be stamped just under the lip of the bed on the near side of the machine. That will tell you which factory produced it.

Thank-you Jenny - the cam reference is what I was concerned about. I just saw the machine yesterday and there wasn't anyone available who had tried it out.
They just want to do straight and zig-zag stitches, so the cams may not be an issue if they are missing.
I have some experience with cams - I had a Singer Golden Touch 'n Sew.
No one who is an experienced sewer is going to believe this - they have a Bernina 1010 that was donated last month (manual & accessories included) and they haven't touched it - I am new to the group and am itching to get the Bernina going! This is like showing a kid (or me) a piece of candy and saying it can't be eaten .
