Numis Network pitches investment in gold and silver coins to Marco Islanders

Numis Network, a network or multi-level marketing company specializing in coins, held their first meeting on Marco Island at Ristorante Da Vinci. Almost 60 attendees enjoyed drinks, bruschetta, calamari, softshelled crabs, and more, while inspecting some sample coins the organizers had brought along. Many in attendance had already made the plunge and joined Numis, and were interested in honing their presentation skills.

Jim Jourdan of Marco Island, one of the company’s “executives” or representatives, greeted people as they arrived. He works a day job as a lineman for Lee County Electric Coop, and that tied into one aspect of the sales pitch – you don’t have to make Numis your full-time job.

“There is gold discovered on Marco!” said the Numis Network promotional materials. The company offers a variety of mint state coins, both new bullion coins and rare coins from previous American coinage. Each executive is expected to buy something every month, with the promise the company will buy back the coins at the purchase price up to five years.

“It’s a coin of the month club,” said Jourdan. “To stay active, you have to buy one a month, or more if you want, and at a better price than you can find anywhere.”

Where the real money comes, though, is in an executive’s “down line,” additional representatives he or she recruits, drawing a commission on all their sales, and the sales of their downline. Ray Higdon, identified as the number one ambassador for the Numis Network, was on hand to make the sales presentation, and showed a slide with all the various multi-level marketing options.

“There are nearly 5,000 network marketing companies,” Higdon told the group, and their offerings fall into a few typical categories: cosmetics and skin care, weight loss, and household products, to name a few. Numis Network, founded in 2009 in Tampa, is the first company to put together network marketing and coins.

Standing before the crowd in a shiny gray suit, Higdon ran through a slide presentation on his MacBook Pro, sharing his personal story.

“I had some success in real estate, but it went away,” he said. “I was in personal foreclosure. Now, I have a new car, I’ve taken five vacations, and I’m making a lot of money.” He achieved wealth through Numis, he said, without having any background in rare coins or precious metals.
