Woman in Utah scandal slain in NH
SALT LAKE CITY, July 12 (UPI) -- A woman who accused a powerful Utah legislator of molesting her as a teenager was killed by her boyfriend's son in New Hampshire, police said.
The bodies of Cheryl Maher, 41, and Jacob Geiser, 18, were discovered in the house in Weare that Maher shared with Joseph Geiser, the Deseret News reported. Police in New Hampshire said Maher, a mother of four, was strangled and stabbed while Jacob Geiser was killed by a single shot to the head.
The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office said Monday that Jacob Geiser apparently killed Maher late Saturday or early Sunday, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported. Then he invaded a home nearby at about 5 a.m., pulled a gun on a man and tried to shoot him, only to have the weapon misfire.
Geiser then returned to his father's house and killed himself.
