Are some ghost towns!)I have lived here most of my life. My fascination with the paranormal began at an early age and at home. My maternal grandmother was a true clairvoyant who saw, heard, and felt spirits as clearly as you would encounter a live person walking on the street. She scared the crap out of me once while she was walking me home from kindergarten by asking me who was the man sitting beneath our neighbor’s tree? She said a man with dark hair wearing a dark suit was sitting underneath our neighbor’s tree with his face in his hands, weeping. I looked and told her no one was there. She insisted there was.  I told my Mom about this right away, thinking Grandma may be a nutter. Mom just smiled with an odd, bemused look on her face. She told me our neighbor had passed away a few days ago in a railroad accident. I asked my Grandma to describe the man she saw to my Mom and she confirmed the description of our neighbor.

Am I a believer? Yes and no. I describe myself as “a skeptic with an open mind”. I believe in spirits of the dead or ghosts, if you will. And I believe in people who are true mediums and clairvoyants. I think “psychic” is a term used far too loosely and broadly to have any credibility for me. In my mind, a reader of Tarot cards (honestly, you can read ordinary Bicycle playing cards like the Tarot) or palms does not a true psychic make. Just because you can deftly interpret cards or palms doesn’t mean you are an authentic medium with a tap into the future or “the other side”. Remember Miss Cleo? (Call me now for yer free readin’!) It is the stuff of P.T.Barnum.

What I do believe in is energy. According to the laws of physics, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes form. I don’t know why some energies stay and some go, but I do believe that negative energies stemming from violence and volatile emotional states can permeate a locale or somehow become “imprinted” on the fabric of time i.e., a residual ‘ EMF, and not ghosts. I received innumerable logical explanations from two very experienced electricians, a geophysicist and an electrical engineer about the ebb and flow of the continuous grid of electromagnetic energy that surrounds us. The child in me likes to believe. Did you know that “ghosts” are said to be dispersed by cell phone energy? Conflict of frequency (dissonance). Plausible, methinks.

I’m not really looking to debunk EMF meters here.

Jimbolio, there is a connection from happy valley to ocatillo rd. You missed fun obstacles like the white rock washout chasm of death, the oh my god im going to die shelf road, and the boulder rock garden crossing..... actually a very fun trail. We escaped with just a few az pinstripes, and a bent bling plate. Only problem was finding a crossing to cascabel rd. Have to find it another time, we were kinda chased out by a storm and lots of private property signs.
