Event Land, an indoor/outdoor activity center offering many options for special occasions, is now open in Magnolia.Owner David Tonner said he and his wife used to take their kids to a lot of birthday parties at places like Chuck E. Cheese's but found them to be loud and overcrowded.
"There wasn't really a place for indoor and outdoor activities where you didn't come outdoors with a headache afterwards," Tonner said.
Tonner's wife, Keyla, designed the center, which has six themed rooms including the Adventure Room and Fairy Tale Forest Room. Each room can host a variety of party themes such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, superheroes, tea parties and garden fairies.
"We can [host] pretty much any type of celebration you want," Tonner said.
Other celebrations include baptisms, communions, anniversaries, corporate events, office dinners, baby showers and bridal showers.
According to Tonner, the average cost of a birthday party is $500 with added amenities, and the base rate is around $330. Each birthday party can host up to 25 kids.
The average cost includes services such as setup, clean up, party supplies and catering. Depending on the chosen room, offerings may include costumes for the kids or a pirate ship or castle inside the room. There is also a flat screen TV in each room so a movie or pictures of the birthday boy or girl can be shown. Entertainment and decorative assistance is also available.
Outdoors, Event Land has a trackless train, mini petting zoo, three bounce houses, miniature golf, an outdoor kitchen and pool with water slide.
Holidays are celebrated at Event Land with special events, and day passes can be purchased for kids and adults to spend time on the Event Land grounds. Passes include unlimited access to the outdoor bounce houses, one ride on the train, one visit to the petting zoo and one round of mini golf.
