'On the Lawn' series at the Lycian Centre heats up
On July 28, join Still Surfin’ for their phenomenal five-part harmonies. This incredible Beach Boys tribute band tours nationally and rocked the Lycian concert series in 200? As an added treat, major sponsor Cheeseburger in Paradise will be on site offering their famous cheeseburgers and (non-alcoholic) signature drink, “Island Paradise.” The musical fun continues in August. On Aug. 4, Mark Gamsjager and The Lustre Kings takes to the stage for the first time at the Lycian. The powerhouse Albany, N.Y., combo has wowed crowds from Manhattan to Seattle and all points in between. They capture the spirit of the Rockabilly and Sun Studios era and they do it with uncommon fervor, commitment and flair.
Concerts are on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. They are held on the front lawn of the Lycian Centre and are free to the public. Concert goers are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, family and friends. Refreshments will also be available on site. Bertoni Gallery presents its 7th Annual Sundays in July Free Music Festival. It is held every Sunday in July at the Bertoni Gallery Sculpture Garden located at 1392 Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf from 1-5 pm.
Local and regional musicians will be performing at this years’ event including: Gayle Donnelly, E’lissa Jones, The Levins, “Smokin Buddy” Steve Wells, Bendy Effect, the Notes, Law and Paradise, Sarah Morr Band, Evan Teatum with Ariel, Peter Sando, Tony Rivera Band, and the Brian Rowe Jazz Funk Project.
The 4th Annual Bill Perry Day will be filled with performances by Barry Adleman, Evan Teatum, Reddan Brothers Band, Dan Brother Band, and a special performance by the “Bill Perry All Stars” featuring many musicians who toured with Bill Perry including Dean Scala, Papa John, Jermy Baum, Gil Cruz, Eric Winter and guests. This is a free event that is family-oriented and open to the entire community.
July 31st will be the 4th Annual Bill Perry Day dedicated to Bill Perry who was an internationally acclaimed blues-rock guitarist who lived in the Chester, NY area most of his life, until his death in 2007. Bertoni Gallery and Barry Adleman from Music For Humanity have joined forces to present the 4th Music For Humanity Bill Perry Scholarship Award in his memory. The scholarship is awarded to a local high school senior who has shown excellence in the field of music, and to encourage the recipients’ ongoing pursuit of their music education. The scholarship recipient (as well as two other Music For Humanity Scholarship Award Winners) will be the guests of honor on this day, and will be presented the award during the ceremony in the sculpture garden. This event will start at 12:00pm.
